I got a bunch of old albums that used to belong to my mom and my dad. They're all banged up. This is my blog about organizing them and trying to restore them. That's what I intended it to be at first anyway. Turns out this stuff is so old and so tied to my memories about my family that it's turning into a blog about them too. Sometimes I try to be funny. Maybe a lot of the time? I should probably rewrite this description. Probably won't though.

Carl Reiner & Mel Brooks - 2000 and Thirteen
There's nothing I write here that's gonna make this funnier or more interesting than it is on its own. I can't wait to see if I can get it to play. I have a friend who'd nut in his jeans if he knew I had this. but he's a fucking weirdo.

Little Feat - Dixie Chicken
More Little Feat. I remember the song "Dixie Chicken" so they probably played this album more than the other one. And it went from that weirdo LiMahl to Little Feat so, alphabetical. It's not the first time I've noticed little snippets of alphabetical order in here. That makes sense because I remember my mom keeping them all in alphabetical order. She was uptight about it. So that makes sense. And I guess they got mixed up when she put them in storage (read: "put them in storage" as: "stashed in a damp basement forFUCKINGever"). So it makes sense that they're in weird order over all. But it also makes sense that it goes from LiMahl to Little Feat.
What doesn't make a lick of god damned sense is what the hell LiMahl is doing there in the first place. Who is that guy? What's his deal? My mom has done plenty of weird shit. And she had plenty of music that was not my thing. But at least it was freaking consistent. How the hell did this guy sneak this in there? Was he sneaking around New Hampshire in the 80s, slipping into random homes and sliding copies of his shitty record in between people's copies of Little Feat and Lionel Richie? Can you imagine how much that would piss off Huey Lewis? The whole idea is creepy as fuck but it's the only way I can imagine that synthpop bullshit ending up in my mom's record collection.

Scott Joplin - The Sting
I never saw this movie but I remember my mom playing the album when I was a kid. Incidentally, don't worry. I must have found the really shitty boxes to go through tonight. But there's some incredible stuff in the other boxes. The Band. Every Beatles album. Every Zeppelin album. A shitload of Rolling Stones. Tonight I'm focusing on Mitch Ryder and Tom Rush and, I don't fucking know, Al fucking Stewart. But there's good shit out there. I was going through the boxes before I decided to take pics and blog about them, and I found shit that made me get all teary-eyed thinking about my childhood. So there's good stuff out there. This is the soundtrack to The Sting, though. It's not gonna make anyone cry unless you crack the LP in two and stab them with the jagged end.
